Their culture has been passed on from generations to generations despite their migration to urban cities. It’s been more than 5 decades since Badjaos left Zamboanga and migrated to other places, yet, they still speak their own language and their children still learn their pure culture, they still don’t sit on chairs or go watch  movies. Most of the Badjaos don’t go out too often, unless to earn a living. They still have not adapted to the Cebuano culture yet. Majority of them don’t have birth certificates, some don’t even know their age. They are very hardworking fishermen, opposite as to what society sees them as lazy people, they don’t work hard to have money, but instead, they work hard to bring food on their table.

Why are they discriminated  with their culture? This proves that Badjaos’ culture has long been kept through their bloodlines and they are not yet welcome to adapting to the modernization of the world yet. This is one of the reasons why people discriminate and ridicule them because they are different from others, their practices and ideologies sometimes don’t coincide with the culture of those in the urban.
