Why is the name of your organization BASU?
Because of the initials of “Badjao sa Sugbu”. BASU, in the Visayan dialect, means glass and it is used to contain water. Water is an essential part of the lives of Badjao since they live in seawaters.
Why did you choose this advocacy?
We noticed that Badjaos are discriminated and stereotyped, sometimes we failed to realize that these are people trying to live their lives and there are reasons as to why this tribe is where they are in the social hierarchy right now. Digging deep into understanding the Badjaos is an enlightenment that it makes us realize their ways and culture.
What is really the main purpose of this website?
The main purpose of this website is to gather all existing information regarding Badjaos and connect these as to why they’re discriminated. This website also encourage people to help the Badjaos through donations to help fund thir education system. Since the Badjaos believe that education is their key to stop discrmination.
Are you willing to continue this site even after you submitted this to you professor?
If this website will initially be proven to be effective, then we don’t find any reasons for us not to continue this. After all, this is not just for the grade, but for an advocacy, to make positive messages cross the mindset of people and encourage them to do good.
